Compagnie Hervé Koubi delivers a highly physical, stunningly fluid work that defies gravity. The 14 all-male virtuoso ensemble hails from Algeria, Morocco and the Mediterranean basin. Mixing capoeira, martial arts, and contemporary dance on the stage, the ensemble combines the powerful imagery of Asian art and Islamic architecture, with a diverse soundtrack that includes recordings by Kronos Quartet, Johann Sebastian Bach and others. Since their US premiere in New York City at the City Center Theater’s Fall for Dance Festival, Compagnie Hervé Koubi has been filling concert halls across America and Europe. In Denver, Compagnie will be presenting What the Day Owes to the Night, a compelling story of a 19th century Asian who comes to Algeria to bring his Eastern dreams to life.

“A stunning jaw dropping fusion of acrobatics, gymnastics, b-boying, modern dance, and ballet.” – The Washington Post

“Compagnie Hervé Koubi left the whole audience breathless and in awe, the dancing was beautifully poetic and at the same time explosive and spectacular.” – Toronto Guardian Digital
