The Newman Center’s popular student matinee series features four performances during the 2024-25 season. In addition to the inspiring performances, an in-class curriculum that integrates music, dance, social-emotional learning and core subjects through the lens of the artists featured on stage is experienced. Students have the chance to learn about the artists before they see the show, or investigate a variety of cultures and performers in the classroom. The growing bank of digital curricula for K-12 students includes standard-based lesson plans, learning projects, visual content, worksheets, projects and assessment – everything teachers need for easy implementation. Best of all, it is available free for anyone to use.

ArtistiCO: Fiestas Navidenas

Colorado based Latinx dance ensemble ArtistiCO will take students on a tour of Christmas celebrations throughout the country of Mexico. The dances performed will feature original choreography based on traditional dances from the Mexican dance masters.

Once you have completed your registration form online, the Education team from Newman Center will email you to confirm your attendance. From there, the Box Office will send an invoice. All payment is due 30 days prior to the performance.
Changes must be made one month prior to the performance. Invoices will then be generated at this time, and schools will be responsible for payment based on the final order. After this time, no changes or refunds will be allowed. Submit change requests to luke.wachter@du.edu.
Yes, the Newman Center for the Performing Arts is located at 2344 East Iliff Avenue in Denver. The Newman Center parking garage is located immediately south of the Newman Center at University and Wesley. A free parking pass will be provided to Student Matinee Series audiences.
All performances are wheelchair accessible and assisted listening devices are available. Please let us know in advance if your students will be requiring special seating, personal captioning devices, or any other assistance to make your visit more enjoyable. Your school must provide interpreters for deaf students, unless otherwise noted.
Only under very extreme circumstances will we cancel a performance. In the event that we cancel a performance, we will make every effort to schedule your students for a future performance.
Turn off all cell phones, watch alarms, and any electronic devices before entering the theatre.
Food, gum, beverages, and backpacks are not allowed in the theatre. We ask that these items be left at school or on the bus. We are not responsible for lost or stolen items.
For students bringing lunch to eat on campus, lunches may be brought into the performance hall, but must not be opened or consumed until classroom is at its lunch location.
