Music Creators Camp

Introducing Music Creators

June 19-23  North High School

The Newman Center presented Music Creators (MC), a one-week (June 19-23) camp experience for students 12-16 years old who are serious about the art of creating original music. With instruction coming from the staff and faculty at the University of Denver's Lamont School of Music and the Newman Center for the Performing Arts, students were given the tools to find their own unique voices as artists and music-makers. Feedback from campers and parents:

"My daughter's highest compliment, 'I found my people.'"

"Made lots of friends and memories."

"The instructors were kind to me and helped me to understand the lessons and take my learning to the next level."

"It was a great opportunity for our kid to explore music creation and music theory since our kid doesn't sing or play an instrument but loves music."

From writing melodies and lyrics, to recording instruments and beats, MC gives campers of all abilities a crash course in producing and crafting music of their own. Campers had a hands-on experience with the latest music technology, learning techniques for composition, recording and production shared by professional musicians, composers and educators from the local music community. Music Creators embraces a growth and open mindset, allowing for experimentation while having a great time doing so. Each camper finished the week with a portfolio of original digital music, and the tools to continue to explore their own musical journey.
