The Robert and Judi Newman Center for the Performing Arts at the University of Denver is one of the nation's finest university performing arts centers. Unique in the region for its size, acoustic quality, and programming, the Newman Center is dedicated to showcasing cultural diversity, stretching the imagination and stimulating dialogue through the performing arts.
Home to DU's Lamont School of Music, Theatre Department and dozens of local performing arts organizations, it is also home to the renowned Newman Center Presents series, a multidisciplinary professional performing arts series showcasing revered artists and new voices from around the world.
The Newman Center is located at 2344 East Iliff Avenue, Denver, CO 80208. Located approximately one mile south of I-25 on University Boulevard, the 20-year-old facility is home to three venues: June Swaner Gates Concert Hall, Frederic C. Hamilton Family Recital Hall, Elizabeth Eriksen Byron Theatre and the Williams Recital Hall.

Parking
The Newman Center parking garage opens 90 minutes prior to performances and is located immediately south of the venue (2344 E. Iliff Ave.) at University and Wesley. Unless otherwise noted, parking is $12. Upon payment, a parking attendant will admit you through the gate and into the parking area up the ramp. In the event the Newman Center parking garage reaches capacity, our parking attendants will assist in directing you to the overflow lot.
Please note, parking on the University of Denver campus requires payment or a parking permit at all times. Free street parking can be found in the surrounding neighborhoods but be sure to add time to your commute as it is not always readily available.
Box Office
The M Allan Frank Family Box Office is located inside the Newman Center (2344 E. Ilifff Ave.). There are two twenty minute parking spots located on the north end of York Street that may be used when visiting the Box Office which is open as follows:
10am-4pm Mon - Fri
12pm-4pm Sat (Sept-May)
Note that the box office opens one hour before each performance.

Venues
June Swaner Gates Concert Hall is the venue's largest with 971 seats. With the atmosphere of an elegant European opera house, Gates Concert hall has hosted such talents as Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis, Paul Taylor Dance Company, Pat Methany, and Kronos Quartet.
The Frederic C. Hamilton Family Recital Hall holds 224 and is the home for many recital performances by faculty and students of the Lamont School of Music. The space boasts the William K. Coors tracker action organ, which was designed and built in Berlin.
The Elizabeth Eriksen Byron Theatre holds 250 and is the home for many performances by DU's Theatre Department. This versatile space has more than 40 different seating and stage configurations, perfect for live theatre and smaller dance performances.
Accessibility
The Newman Center offers multiple accessibility services including assisted listening devices, transport chairs, transfer theatre seats, wheelchair seating, booster seats, automatic door openers for restrooms and exterior doors, audio description and American Sign Language. Limited Mobility
Wheelchair-accessible seating and other accessible areas are available upon request. Patron services staff (ushers and house managers) can assist with getting patrons from the doors to their seats. Please indicate your request when purchasing tickets through the box office at (303) 871-7720.

What food and drink offerings are available?
A variety of snacks, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages are offered at most Newman Center events. We only accept credit and debit cards.

Is there an age minimum?
In general, Newman Center shows are for guests ages four and up unless otherwise noted. Tickets need to be purchased for children ages two and up.

Does the Newman Center offer group discounts?
Typically, a group discount of 10% is available for groups of 10 or more. Please contact the box office at (303) 871-7720 to purchase and note that group discount policies vary depending on the show.

Does the Newman Center offer discounts for DU students/staff/faculty?
Yes, for all Newman Center Presents shows. Visit the student ticketing portal or present your Pioneer ID at the box office to purchase discount tickets (price varies) while supplies last.

Any recommendations where to eat or drink before or after a show?
There are several great options in the vicinity of the Newman Center. Historic South Gaylord Street is a 5 minute drive north on University Boulevard and features such options as Reiver's Restaurant and the Washington Park Grille. To the west, one has South Pearl Street with such delights as Sushi Den and Park Burger. Within walking distance of the Newman Center, check out The Pioneer, Jerusalem Restaurant, and Saucy's Southern BBQ & Cuisine.

What are your COVID-19 Guidelines?
Currently, face coverings are optional and we ask our guests to respect those who continue to wear face masks as a health precaution. No proof of vaccination is required.
