Curriculum Bank

The Newman Center curriculum bank features project-based units about the genres and artists featured in our Student Matinee series. These curricula, created in partnership with Think 360 Arts for Learning, are designed both to give students a background on the artists they are going to see at the Newman Center, and to be used as standalone resources in the classroom. Even if you aren’t able to attend a live show (or a show is already passed) you can still use these units to open up new worlds and ideas for your students.

Each unit was created by a content expert and written in grade bands that can be easily adapted to a variety of grade levels and classrooms. The lesson plans are focused on arts integration and focus on standards and learning goals in both an arts discipline and social-emotional learning or a core subject. They are also project-based, with each unit culminating in a flexible creative project that demonstrates students understanding of the artistic culture. Each unit takes approximately three to four 45-minute class periods to complete, and can be modified to a variety of learning environments. You will find everything you need, including visuals, videos, lesson plans, and assessments.
