Berkshire Choral International will present a choral-orchestral concert featuring music of Mozart and gems by two rediscovered classical period composers under the baton of Anthony Trecek-King on Saturday, July 18 at 7:30pm at University of Denver’s Newman Center.

Anchored by Mozart’s celebratory Coronation Mass, this unique program explores the echoes of Mozart’s genius by highlighting choral-orchestral works of two lesser-known contemporaries: Marianna Martines, the most prominent woman composer of the era and José Nunes Garcia, a bi-racial Brazilian proponent of the classical style. Martines’ Dixit Dominus is a rich and sophisticated setting of Psalm 110 and Nunes Garcia’s Requiem was inspired by Mozart.

Trecek-King, BCI’s Artistic Director and Resident Conductor with Boston’s Handel & Haydn Society, leads the 100 voice chorus comprised of experienced choral singers from across the U.S. who are spending an intensive week with BCI in residence at University of Denver. Distinguished vocal soloists for the program include 2-time Grammy nominee Laura Strickling, soprano; 2025 Met Opera competition winner Sadie Cheslak, mezzo; Cameo Humes, tenor; and Rocky Sellers, bass.
