Designed for students in grades 3–5, Puppet Makers Camp is a one-of-a-kind week hosted by the Robert & Judi Newman Center for the Performing Arts.
From August 3–7, campers dive into creative writing, puppetry and movement, performance, and construction — building four types of puppets (sock, hand, rod, and shadow) from the ground up before performing original productions for a real audience.
Guided by experienced arts educators, kids develop skills that go far beyond the stage: communication, collaboration, storytelling, self-confidence, and empathy. Research shows puppetry is one of the most powerful tools for creative and social-emotional growth in elementary-age students.
