The Lamont School of Music students, faculty members and guest artists perform on the concert and recital hall stages of the Robert and Judi Newman Center for the Performing Arts, one of the nation’s most extraordinary campus arts centers. Audiences select from 300 concerts and events each season featuring the repertoires of orchestras, choirs, jazz ensembles, world music and operas.
In the Modern Music Ensemble, participants explore recently-written repertoire while developing entrepreneurship skills required of the 21st-century musician. Repertoire varies from the 20th century to today, including electronic and electro-acoustic music.
The Lamont Composers Concert Series (LCCS) is a quarterly concert featuring new compositions by graduate and undergraduate students. All composition majors are invited to submit acoustic, electronic or electro-acoustic works for the LCCS each quarter.
Ensembles vary in size from duos to octets, and they especially emphasize collaboration with singers and other instrumentalists. The course covers music from the Renaissance to the present day.
Join the Lamont Wind Ensemble for an inspiring evening of music that celebrates the deep and lasting alliances between the United States and its European partners. A highlight of the evening will be Wilhelm’s Concertino for Tuba and Winds, featuring Steve Dombrowski.
This concert will feature songs, duets, and quartets by the master composers of German Lieder: Schubert, the Schumann's, Hugo Wolf, Johannes Brahms, and more. The performance will be the culmination of graduate students' work in Graduate Voice Repertoire course under the direction of Sahar Nouri.
